Picture someone, you perhaps, convulsing in a padded white cell illuminated with blinding fluorescent lights. Your antipsychotic medication is wearing off and your restraints are mercilessly tight. Your mistaken suspicions and hallucinations are getting the better of you. To your dismay, no one else seems to hear the strange voices and disturbingly faint noises infiltrating the air, seeping into your auditory chamber. The incessant light source makes time impossible to determine. Who knows when the doctor’s next round will be? Your only resort is to turn inward to the only person who can’t help you. This is the feeling I experienced when listening to Virgin Ghost. I imagine the creepy whispers of inarticulate voices and pulsing static discharges of evil being the sort of schizophrenic aural delusions I might experience in Magic Is Kuntmaster’s claustrophobically enclosed audio environment. Extremely experimental, minimalist, cerebrally scratching, eerie, dark, unstable and disturbing. They take me to a place I dare not visit alone, but I have no choice.

Chicago's Camilla Ha (ex-My Name Is Rar Rar) is hardly a sexless elf ala Lord  of the Rings, Magic is Kuntmaster is a thoroughly upsetting musical experience, ripped stockings and scuffed Sunday shoes for all. Ambient music is defined as background music, Magic Is Kuntmaster demand attention at all hours. Each CD case comes snug in a painstakingly handmade fabric bag. Something is wrong here.
